Word of the threat at Franklin Delano Roosevelt High School was provided around 9:21 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 21 to the Town of Hyde Park Police, said Hyde Park Police Chief Robert Benson.
According to Benson, someone posted a picture on social media of a bathroom wall at FDR stating there was going to be a shooting tomorrow.
Detectives were able to track down where the post originated from and that student was interviewed by the school resource officer and detectives, Benson said.
In addition, officers reviewed countless hours of video surveillance with the assistance of high school administrators.
"At this point, the threat has been deemed not credible prior to the opening of school," Benson said.
On Friday, the Hyde Park Police with the assistance of school administrators, checked all bags before anyone was allowed entry to the school.
The Hyde Park Police with the assistance of the Dutchess County Sheriff's Office provided a strong presence at the school during arrival.
Benson said there are extra officers assigned to the school to assist in keeping the students safe.
The investigation is ongoing. If anyone has any more information on the threat they are asked to contact the Hyde Park Police Department at 845-229-9340.
